Children everywhere, including children from Springfield and the surrounding area, have benefited from the state-of-the-art research and treatment offered by St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Each year St. Jude treats 4,600 patients, 70 patients from Central Illinois being treated  in Peoria, 800 since 1972.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a world-renowned center for the treatment and research of life threatening childhood diseases, such as cancer, sickle cell anemia, and pediatric AIDS. Since the Hospital’s founding in 1962, by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, it has treated more than 17,000 children from around the world. All children are treated regardless of race, religion or ability to pay. As we continue to strive for a cure, your dollars make this endeavor possible.

Events are taking place this summer that will allow you the opportunity to help raise funds that will go directly to St. Jude.  The  Third Annual St. Jude Golf  Outing will be held on Moday, June 29, 2009, at Piper Glen  Golf Course in Springfield.  Please join us for a fun-filled day of golf at Piper Glen Golf Course.  Click  on the link  below and you can find out more about this outing. 

We'll be selling raffle tickets for the Monster Golf Raffle again this year!! Ten golf courses across Central Illinois have generously given rounds of golf totaling over $700.00.  The drawing will be held on August 1, 2009!!  Just send us an email or contact the Springfield St. Jude Run Coordinator, Dave Wesselman, 217-341-2048.

The premier event this summer is the annual St. Jude Run.  On August 1, 2009, area runners will participate  in the annual St. Jude Run from Springfield to Peoria.

Pictured above are the participants in the 2008 Springfield to Peoria Run.  Each year our group has grown but this year promises to be the best yet!  New runners have contacted us and many of the seasoned veterans are gearing up for another successful run.  We want to make 2009 our most successful year!
